GEANSAI GORM

GEANSAI GORM SEO Contest is causing quite a stirr here in Ireland so I've decided to give it a shot.
I always believed that having a clean validating code and good SEO technique ( not that I have any ) helps more in the long run than any CMS plugin so I'll try to stick with my beliefs.
I might be wrong but this is suppose to be for fun so...good luck to all competitors !

"An SEO contest is an activity awarding prizes that challenges search engine optimization(SEO) practitioners to rank themselves among the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN using certain keyword(s). This type of contest is controversial because it often leads to massive amounts of link spamming as participants try to boost the rankings of their pages by any means available. The organizing body of an SEO competition may hold the activity without promotion of a product or service in mind; or they may organize a contest in order to market something on the Internet. Participants can showcase their skills and potentially discover and share new techniques for promoting websites."

GEANSAI GORM HISTORY

31.10.2008 - part I -

I'm pleased to see that another GEANSAI GORM WATCH website is around ( apart from mine ) so everybody please welcome http://geansaigorm.blogsome.com ( a blog this time ) into the world !
Not so many noticeable changes in rankings from my last night rant but I cannot help but mention about the new entry I see this morning.
I'm pretty sure that most of you know Sean from smemon.com and if you don't that's your loss. He's a young entrepreneur who flips websites with the speed I change my socks ( maybe faster if I have a few pints on me ) and I'm sure you'll hear more about him in the years to come .So here's to you Sean, I'll even put an H1 link to your GEANSAI GORM project ( it might not help because of my shitty ranking - for now - ) but...here it is on one of my pages:

ABOUT GEANSAI GORM
Anyway, back on GEANSAI GORM SEO contest the biggest change so far would be the loss of the first spot ( second, actually ) by mybluejumper.com. Taskdrop.com of James Larkin went up last night and who knows - might stay there for a few good hours .Is still a month to go and I can bet that we will see plenty of shifting in the SERPs.What I cannot bet yet is who'll be the winner on this Geansai Gorm best Irish SEO contest and that's because ( again ) my Grandma's words : " Betting early on the favorite dog on tracks might bring you a surprise ! A bad one..."

30.10.2008 part II

Mad and funny day today on the GEANSAI GORM contest but I can honestly say...I like it ! My question is : Who's gonna be the winner, the one who first rank in Google for the GEANSAI GORM term or the first ranking NEW DOMAIN NAME ( 3rd -4th spot ? ) ? If is going to be the first one then I can say...it will be no winner for the breach of T & C of the contest ( I'm sure is not going to be a new domain on the first spot, it will probably be an old blog or forum where people register and sign as GEANSAI GORM linking to the GEANSAI GORM sites they've made) .We'll live and see...
For the moment mybluejumper.com went second after Tom Doyle's blog and greybandit.com came up close ranking second ( 3rd if you consider Tom's blog ).A new comer made on Google apps ( sites.google.com/site/geansaigormproject ) came out of nowhere straight to third place ( 4th actually ).
What I'm surprised to see is that bluejumper.net ( the only site that actually follow all the real SEO rules - validates on w3.org and do not use any CMS plugins to get high rankings etc ) is out of sight. Hmmm....that makes me think...should I go cutting corners ?
Not just yet...
And to bring again my Granma's words : " You never get lost on a straight road so do not cut corners unless you're in a rush or when the Gardai's chasing you..."
Well Grandma, I still have a month so...no rush here !

I can say that I'm very pleased with the response so far on Damien Mulley's competition to find "The Best SEO person in Ireland".
I can bet that in the next month we'll see a lot of tricks ( and SEO treats ) from Irelands best SEOs to get the higher ranking in Google.ie for the term GEANSAI GORM ( Geansai Gorm Translation ).
Out of the six runners-up for now I can see WordPress used, Joomla , and ( I think ) Drupal once ( I'm not too sure about the last one ).
If anybody would ask me I'd say that the safest way to get high rankings fast would be to use Wordpress BUT that's nothing to do with real SEO so I can say that, for the moment I like the fair game done by BlueJumper.net and MyBlueJumper.com (ranking first for the moment ).
However will be I'm sure that the best one will win and if not, at least they gave it a shot or as my Granny would say : " If there would be only winners in life I'd be happy to be the last of them !".Well Grandma' I'm sure that in this contest everybody will be a winner by learning something so...let me be the last of them !
